In 2003, Calgary ER nurse and fourth-generation Albertan Kamla McGonigal had a bold idea: to craft a dessert that captured the spirit of Alberta—solid, authentic, and unbridled. After years of perfecting her recipes using local ingredients and premium Canadian whisky, Alberta Whisky Cake was born in 2010. What started as a passion project quickly became a beloved prairie treasure, delivering indulgent cakes that tell a story with every bite.
