Alberta Whisky Cake began as a dream in 2003, when Kamla McGonigal—a fourth-generation Albertan, emergency room nurse, and ranch-raised mother—decided to craft a dessert that captured the essence of her beloved province. Her goal was simple: create a world-class cake that was as bold, rich, and authentic as Alberta itself. After years of perfecting her recipe, she introduced two distinctive flavors: The Whisky Runner (chocolate) and The Malted Maple (maple walnut). Each cake is infused with locally distilled rye whisky from Highwood Distillers in High River, Alberta, and made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients like butter, flour, and Canadian maple syrup.

Today, Kamla’s sons—proud fifth-generation Albertans—carry forward her vision with the same passion and dedication. They’re not just running the business; they’re living the legacy.
